Roots & Wings:
A Bilingual Project

Imagine your child...

Growing  confident through meaningful social and emotional connections

Moving with purpose, mastering motor skills, through fun activities

Discovering literacy and math through hands-on exploration

Exploring the world with curiosity and creativity through art, music, and movement

We offer a Bilingual (English and Spanish) Language playgroup inspired by years of educational experience, which combines the magic of play-based learning with a comprehensive structure.

Why language Immersion?

Early immersion is simply the best way to 'hardwire' a language because it provides real world context where students engage with the language actively and frequently. Simply put; being surrounded by the language allows the development of the students ability to think, read, speak and grasp the subtleties of the language. Early immersion accelerates proficiency in a way that traditional teaching cannot, at an age where their predisposition for language aquisition is unparalleled.

Are you a daycare

centre/infant school?

No, we specialise in quality play based language learning through daily immersion in both English and Spanish so that your child can begin their bilingual journey before starting statutory education.

Will the program affect my child's native language?

Immersing a child in another language typically doesn't harm their native tongue because young children have a remarkable capacity for bilingualism. Their brains are highly plastic, allowing them to learn multiple languages simultaneously without confusion. The native language, often reinforced at home, remains strong as it’s tied to emotional and social contexts. Studies show bilingual children maintain proficiency in both languages when given regular opportunities to practice each.

Is an immersion program right for all children?

When started at an early age immersion accelerates language acquisition and boosts cognitive flexibility for many children. However, it can be overwhelming for others. Children with language delays, anxiety, or special needs might struggle with the intensity and parents should first assess their child’s readiness, learning style, and emotional resilience.

What is the program structure?

The mixed-age class features two daily learning sessions. In the first, students engage in tailored activities designed to practice specific skills. The second session offers younger students the freedom to choose activities based on their interests. With a maximum of eight students, our small class size enables teachers to provide personalised support, fostering language development through play-based scaffolding.

“A haven of respectful learning connected to nature”

I couldn't be happier with my decision to bring my daughter to this school. What I value most is the absolute respect for each child's individual pace; they are not pressured, but rather supported with wonderful sensitivity, allowing them to flourish in their own time.

The English language immersion is so natural that I'm amazed at how effortlessly she integrates the language through play and everyday activities. Another important aspect is their outdoor excursions. It's vital for children to leave the classroom, and here, contact with nature is constant.

These outings aren't just walks; they are sensory experiences that bring them calm, curiosity, and enviable physical and emotional well-being. Seeing my daughter grow up in an environment that prioritizes well-being outside the four walls of a classroom gives me immense peace of mind. And the passion she feels for her teacher, Bianca... thanks also to a small class size, is a professional who makes me feel that my daughter is seen, heard, and allowed to grow freely. A school that truly understands what children need!

"Creativity seems to emerge from multiple experiences, coupled with a well-supported development of personal resources, including a sense of freedom to venture beyond the known."
